1. EXCELLENT FACULTY<\/span><\/h4>\n

The Department of Tourism (DOT) of Ming Chuan University has 9 full-time faculty members (two\u00a0professors, three\u00a0associate professors, and four assistant professors) from renowned universities in Taiwan and overseas. We also recruit multiple senior executives in the tourism industry as instructors to provide theoretical and practical knowledge.<\/p>\n\n

2. DIVERSE TYPES OF TEACHING HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE<\/span><\/h4>\n

To provide top-class environments for our students, we have cooperated with a travel agency (Lion Travel Service Co., Ltd.) and installed a Global Distribution System classroom, a flight attendant simulation classroom, as well as professional reservation software systems, such as Abacus and Amadeus, to facilitate teaching.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

3. EMPLOYMENT-ORIENTED CURRICULUM DESIGN<\/span><\/h4>\n

The DOT has designed two employment and entrepreneurship programs for tour leader training and travel business management. We also provide six career and learning maps in fields such as travel business management, transportation, tour guiding, and tourism planning and management. The integration of practice and theory enables our students to be employed immediately upon graduation.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

4. LIVELY TEACHING ACTIVITIES<\/span><\/h4>\n

In addition to classroom lectures, the DOT provides curricula including off-campus visits, speeches by business instructors, training camps for flight attendants and ground staff, and assistive programs for passing certificate tests. The students can be prepared to become outstanding professionals in the tourism industry through training in these courses.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

5. STRONG ALUMNI NETWORK<\/span><\/h4>\n

Numerous outstanding tourism professionals graduated from our department. These personnel form a strong and active alumni network, many of whom are senior executives of businesses in the tourism and hospitality industries, including Colatour General Manager Gao Yue-Mei and former Regent Taipei Hotel CEO Amy Hsueh.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

6. ABUNDANT INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE<\/span><\/h4>\n

In response to the internationalism of the tourism industry, we encourage and assist students to apply for funding from the Ministry of Education or become exchange students with Ming Chuan University\u2019s sister schools. Students can go to schools in countries such as the United States, Canada, and China to participate in internship programs or short-term study. Over the years, many students have thus broadened their horizons and enhanced their personal competence.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

7. INTERNSHIP AND JOB-MATCHING SYSTEM<\/span><\/h4>\n

Students of the DOT are required to complete 400 hours of internship work as compulsory credits. Advanced internship programs are provided to senior DOT students, who can enter the workplace before graduation. In addition, we promote a job-matching system to enable renowned businesses to recruit personnel from our graduating students, thereby guaranteeing a higher chance of rapid employment.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

8. GRADUATES\u2019 FUTURE PROSPECTS AND CAREER DEVELOPMENT<\/span><\/h4>\n

Over the past twenty years, the tourism industry of Taiwan has become a focal industry which steadies the economic foundation of Taiwan. The rapid development of domestic tourism-related industries need talents with professional knowledge and management capabilities to enhance the quality of the overall industry. Therefore, for a long time, tourism professionals have been in eager demand and our Department of Tourism is one of the leading departments in Taiwan. The tourism professionals nurtured by our department are able to work in various tourism-related industries. Our graduates are capable to work in travel agencies, domestic and international airlines companies, MICE service providers, and cruise and railway companies. Other industries, such as chain restaurant groups, hotels, health centers, bed and breakfast, leisure farms, theme parks, and government agencies also welcome graduates from our department.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our curriculum includes courses in related fields of tourism management and professional skills. Graduates can pursue a master\u2019s degree in the fields of tourism, leisure, and hospitality either at home or abroad. For many years, faculty members have been striving to guide and assist students to pursue further education. Furthermore, they encourage students to participate in research projects subsidized by the Minister of Science and Technology.
